Frecce Tricolori 65th Anniversary

Fifth time I attend a Frecce Tricolori “round anniversary” airshow. 20 years have passed since the first time I have been in their home base in Rivolto!

The show was opened by the fly-by of a 14° Stormo KC-767A (wearing a special tail for the 8° Gruppo 100th Anniversary) and a 32° Stormo F-35. This fly-by was performed only on the media/spotter day on friday, on which the 100th Anniversary of the 2° Stormo (based here in Rivolto) was celebrated.

Finally, at sunset, the Frecce Tricolori!
For the event, the rudder was repainted with the 65th Anniversary logo, the names of all pilots which flew with the team and the smoke colour used by each plane.

The Commander’s plane had a similarly-painted rudder, but with Savoy blue, the National Colour of Italy.

In flight it was possible to see the Frecce Tricolori past (G.91) and present (MB.339). On static display, the future of the team: a T-346 mock-up with a Pininfarina-designed Frecce Tricolori livery. In 2024, the T-346 was revealed to be the next Frecce Tricolori plane.
